Program Overview: TDLR-Approved Teen Driver Ed

Driving School Carrollton’s program at the The Colony location provides everything required to earn a Texas learner’s permit and driver’s license.

• 24 Hours of In-Person Classroom Instruction

  • Meets Texas TDLR requirements

  • Accelerated options available for faster completion

  • Covers traffic laws, safe driving habits, and real-world skills

• 14 Hours of Behind-the-Wheel Instruction

  • 7 hours of actual driving

  • 7 hours of in-car observation

  • Scheduled separately, with flexible booking options

• 30 Parent-Led Practice Hours

  • Students receive a log and guidance for completing 30 hours of driving practice with a parent or guardian (10 hours must be at night)

• DE-964 Certificate

  • Required to apply for a Texas learner’s permit and later for the driving test

  • Issued after classroom and in-car requirements are completed

• On-Site Permit Test Prep

  • The school helps students prepare for and take the permit test

🎓 Who Can Enroll?

• Teens can start the course at 14 years old

• Must be 15 years old to get a learner’s permit

• After completing the first 6 hours of class, students are eligible to take the permit test (offered by the school).
