Do Adults Need a Valid Texas Permit or B-Restricted License for a Third-Party Driving Test?
To take a road test with Drive Smart, bring a valid, unexpired Texas learner license or Texas Class C driver license with restriction B. Your adult driver education and Impact Texas Drivers certificates do not replace that license.
What does restriction B mean?
Restriction B requires a licensed driver age 21 or older in the front passenger seat. It allows supervised driving; it does not allow you to drive alone. Class C is the license class, while B is a restriction printed on the license.
Get your documents ready
If you do not have the required valid license, start with DPS. Use the official DPS application checklist for the documents that fit your situation. Bring any driver education certificates you have already earned.
If you need an adult course, compare Drive Smart’s adult course options. Driving lessons are available in Carrollton through our in-car enrollment page.
